Cross Lanes Baptist Moldova Mission

A team from CLBC ministered in an orphan camp in Falesti,Moldova last week. There are more than 12,000 orphans in Moldova. We partnered with Children's Emergency Relief International. The camp ministry included Bible stories, games, and crafts in a Vacation Bible School format.

James 1:27 "Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world."

Orphan ministry is very difficult emotionally and spiritually because of the great needs. It is also very rewarding not only because of the opportunity to practically demonstrate the love of Jesus, but also because of the love that is shown in return by the orphans.

Mission opportunities like this are life changing. They challenge your value system, your priorities, and your focus in life. I would encourage you to explore and consider the ministry of Children's Emergency Relief International and what God may be calling you to do to reach out to "the least of these."

Pray for CLBC Ministry in Moldova

The country of Moldova is located in Eastern Europe between Romania to the west and Ukraine to the north. There are an estimated 4.3 million people living in the country.

There are many needs in Moldova, particularly related to children. Conditions make life very challenging. A team of 12 will be working through Children's Emergency Relief International in Moldova over the next week conducting a day camp for children. 9 on the team are from CLBC, and 3 will be joining us from Texas.

Pray for the team that will be ministering. Pray that the hearts of the orphaned children we will be working with will be open. Pray that God will be glorified and His will be done!

Family Vacation

We took time as a family this past week to go on vacation. For the past eight years we have been to Topsail Island, North Carolina. It is a nice family location and the kids love the beach. At the end of the week we traveled over to Cattail Creek, North Carolina for a gathering of extended family in the mountains for the July 4th weekend.

Family vacations are important. It is easy to get so busy with life that we lose sight of the importance of family time where relationships grow and memories are made. You might say, “I don’t have time to take a vacation.” I would say you don’t have time not to. No matter how busy you are, or how many responsibilities you may have, you are not indispensable.

Life goes quickly. God designed us to work and also to rest. Both are important. You might say, “I cannot afford to take a vacation.” I would say you cannot afford not to take a vacation. A vacation does not necessarily have to be expensive. There are many opportunities for inexpensive time away.

I am thankful to God for my family, and I cherish every opportunity I have to spend time with them away from the rush of life.
