Dr. Danny Akin, President of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, delivered a message recently, Axioms for a Great Commission Resurgence, from Acts 1:4-8.
Today, a movement, Toward a Great Commission Resurgence, was brought to the forefront based largely on these axioms.
Toward a Great Commission Resurgence builds on the Conservative Resurgence in the SBC. I support this effort for the following reasons:
* It is theologically accurate. The focus is on the Word of God, the centrality of the Mission, and the Glory of God.
* There is a clear commitment to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission.
* It emphasizes our utilizing all available means to us, that are biblically consistent, to reach people with the Gospel.
* The document honestly addresses the need for the SBC to consider our current structure and the need to streamline and consolidate efforts in order to be most effective.
I signed the document and support it wholeheartedly. We desperately need a move of God in our convention and in our nation. At CLBC we are doing our best to live out the Great Commission. I pray that the many other churches that are doing the same will take up the banner for the glory of God!
