The West Virginia Convention of Southern Baptists Evangelism Celebration is Thursday and Friday evenings, in two different locations this year. I am currently serving as Chair of the Evangelism Committee. The first night will be at Immanuel Baptist Church in Princeton, in the southern part of the state. The second night will be at Temple Baptist Church in Moundsville, West Virginia.
Over the past couple of years we have been focusing on the significance of prayer and spiritual awakening. The theme of the Evangelism Celebration is "Spirit Empowered Evangelism," with a focus on John 16:8. Evangelist Rick Coram and Dr. Alvin Reid, from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, will be the preachers in Princeton. Dr. David Wheeler, from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, and Jimmy Bledsoe will preach in Moundsville. I am looking forward to both evenings.
I am praying for God to pour out His Spirit on the state of West Virginia and bring a genuine awakening as we surrender ourselves to Him.
