A team of 8 from Cross Lanes Baptist Church served in southern Moldova over the past week. Our previous missions to Moldova have focused on work with orphans. This mission focused on work with a local body of Christ, Emanuel Baptist Church in Cahul, Moldova.
Cahul is a 3 1/2 hour drive from Chisinau, the capital city, where the airport is located. The weather was extremely hot this week with temperatures going above 100 degrees. But the heat did not slow down the mission. We held a Vacation Bible School in a local school yard. The first day we had 40 children and by the end of the week the group had grown to 120. The church was very excited as this provides fertile ground for followup ministries.
We worked alongside our brothers and sisters from Emanuel Baptist Church in Cahul. It is a young church plant, but the pastors and leadership are very evangelistic and intentional in doing ministry. It is an excellent partnership.
I preached on Sunday morning. The church baptized two new adult believers. On Monday evening I taught on servant leadership. Tuesday evening we went out on evangelism with the church in various areas of their community. Wednesday evening I taught on evangelism and Thursday evening we participated in a student event at the church and Pastor Brandon spoke. There were numerous decisions for Christ in the VBS and we were well received.
We look forward to a continued partnership with this church. The team is now in route back to the states. We will overnight in Chisinau and then begin the 24+ hour journey home on Saturday. I look forward to preaching at CLBC on Sunday AM.
Pray for Moldova. It is a country with profound needs. Pray especially next week, as an election will be held. There is still a strong ruling Communist influence in this country, and the election is a very important time for the people.
